Ot galvanized water tank repair tips needed

The other day I was moving a galvanized water tank across the field and punctuated a hole in it.
The hole is in the side.
How is the best way to patch the tank?
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks

Take a bolt and a couple large washers then make some washers a bit larger than the hole smear some black silicone on the rubber where it meets the tank and pull the bolt tight

Good luck trying to soilder galvinize. Couple of big washers, some old tire tube with a tiny hole in the middle, and then stick a bolt through. Should seal it up. They did that on a water retaining pan under some equipment at work.

Take a hammer and just knock it back into shape then silicone on the inside will seal it for awhile. Or you could just knock it back tight then solder it or JBweld or braze it. Or get a new tank.
I think waterers are the least work with the most use and least trouble over time.

Zinc galvanized sheet metal is easy to solder. Your tank may possibly have some other coating rather than hot dipped zinc.

I'd use a bolt like others suggested. On small holes my dad used to pull the bullet on a 22 shell. He'd then put the bullet in the hole and take a hammer and pound it into a patch.

take a hole saw and drill say a 2in hole where the damage is then go to napa and get an expandable freeze plug for that size

So much information missing. Is it a smooth sided tank or atank with ribs like steel roffing? Close to a seam or not? How big of a spot? What would work with one thing will not work with an outher as on a roll will not work same as on a flat surface and a quarter inch hole would be different to patch than a 4" gash. Against a seam different than middle of a large flat surface..
