Blade cylinder revisited

Couple weeks ago I inquired about the cylinder size for a grader blade.

Wound up using a 3x8 I had on hand. And I'd gone to a sale that had an 8' Deere blade, it only had a 3" cylinder on it, so this oughta work. Even had a couple hoses I'd taken off a loader... free is always good.

Things aren't square where it got welded up, but it's the only way I could make it work without cutting off some threads on the cylinder...didn't want to do that.

Added a stand I'd taken off a tedder (always hang onto stuff, never know when you'll need it) so I don't have to lift the blade to hook it up, and hit it with a couple cans of Rustoleum.

Works like a champ.

Thanks

I bought a Big Rhino blade a couple years ago. It had no hydraulic control but last summer I mounted a a hydraulic cylinder on it to angle the blade. Used a longer cylinder I had around and parts I found in metal pile. Made a lot of difference this winter plowing snow and not having to get off to adjust angle.

Russ from MN 'We have that very same blade, but I still have to jump off the tractor to adjust it!'

I don't know about your blade, but mine had a lot of slop in the adjustment holes...but it was not an expensive blade to start with 20 years ago, and I've had to repair/weld on it over the years too.

Used a 1" hole saw to cut the holes for the pins, not much slop now. Stays where I put it.
