We are still continuing to disassemble, but am starting to clean up parts, the front bolt popped right loose, that was a nice surprise. We did adjust the valves today, and they were remarkably close, within a thousand or two. The throttle body cleaned up nicely. We plan to get the timing belt and front seal changed tomorrow, then start to put back together. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

I was shocked to find out my 1999 Civic has a solid lifter cm requiring valve lash adjustments. Boy, did I mess it up the first time!! Metric conversion, huh?

Once I figured it out and set them right, it purrs like a kitten, well, except for the piston skirt slap at start up and the broken exhaust system thanks to a pothole...

By doing this maintenance on this car, with your son, he will most likely drive this car in a respectful manner. My GF gave her old car to her son and he and his friends destroyed it. This car will be more than just transportation. It will be a life lesson learned.
