Replacing lift arms

I bent one or lift arms pushing a stump with a scraper blade. Can’t bend it back into shape. The arms are Cat 1, but OEM is Cat 2. Should I replace both arms then and get Cat 2s, or just the one bent Cat 1 one? Other than the linkage hope size, are the bars any different?

Tractor is a ‘91 Ford 250c.

Cat 1 arm is 31 1/2" long
Cat 2 arm is 34" long
If it has Cat 1 ball where it mounts to the axle housing the pin is smaller in dia, to change to Cat 2 you'll need a different pin.

Ha, not enough heat nor a big enough hammer. It?s about at 45degree.

So other than length, the bars on a cat 2 aren?t any more sturdy? Thought they?d be thicker or something.

The tractor has Cat 2 holes on the axle housing and the top link, but all of my implements are Cat 1. Maybe I?ll just keep the Cat 1s in there until they break.

If the pins at the axle are cat 2 that means the tractor came with cat 2 from the factory and somebody evidently changed sonething over the years. So you should put cat 2 lift arms on but you can get them for to take both cat 1 and cat 2 pins on implements and with the extra length of the lift arms it will lift the implement higher.

Machine shop should be able to press that out for you.

No idea what tractor you have, your text gets all squirrelly other than ?ford? dont Know what it is.

If you don't have an oxy-acetylene set-up take it to a fab shop. They will make short work of heating and straightening. A half hour , twenty bucks.

It's a 250C utility, similar to the 3910 ag model.

Hmm, that's an idea I could do at home.

The university I work at has a blacksmithing club and automotive dept. I guess I could ask around to see if they can mess with it.

I'll be the odd man out. I'd replace them both with Cat 2. You can use bushings at either end to get the right fit. If you bent a Cat 1, you'll bend it again. Cat 2 should be a fair bit stronger. I'm not sure I'd trust an arm that had been bent at 45° and then bent back. Maybe the blacksmith guys could do it in a way to retain the original strength.

I would rather bend the cat 1 again than replace the rear housing.
