Nasal prolapse in sheep

Found this ewe with what looks like a nasal prolapse. The nostril is nearly blocked with tissue. No other health problems.

(quoted from post at 13:35:08 03/19/19) A butcher.
A butcher would be a decent option, but she is due any day now and is an amazing ewe. Weans some nice lambs. I will do a search for OPP in sheep.

The more I watch her, the more I think maybe she just has a briar or stick up there causing the inflammation. Hopefully I can get some help later this week and hold her down without hurting her and take a look. Being since she is as wide at tall, i want to make sure I am gentle with her.

Thanks.

I think I can rule out OPP. She is not thin and is showing no signs of anything wrong other than the nostril.

These are the handiest thing ever. Premier supply sells them.

Very easy for one person to put on so a sheep can be treated/assessed.

She is a very gentle and take ewe so I was able to look at it with my 6 year old daughter holding the flashlight. It looks like a mass of tissue attached only to the top of the inside of the nostril. Guess I will just wait and see. If it bothers her I will ask how much the vet would charge to remove it. Even if it is $50, that is half the price of a weaned lamb. She is worth it.

Maybe needs culled after weaning? I’m not a vet, but masses like that often get worse and are at the very least a precursor to cancer. Maybe not, but probably worth getting checked at some point.
