Crews are working 24 7 to get it going. At the mine shop parking lot the company making the bridge has already started making the bridge. They will then load it onto rail cars and haul it down and set it in place.

I been so busy I messed hearing about the RR bridge at Millville washing out. I read were is was the ice that blocked the water against it. The flood 15 years or so on the Turkey river was much higher but without any ice to block the water flow over/around the bridge.

It is amazing to see what can be done and how fast it can be done when it's "mission critical". We had a bridge over the interstate get damaged a few years ago, that bridge was down to the ground in about 4-5 days. Had that been a summer time bridge replacement the old one would have been weeks coming down. There are still some skilled people doing difficult construction jobs and they know how to get it done safely and quickly. I would be willing to bet that the construction company in this case were given an open check book, and will get it done cheaper than if it were planned and mulled over for ayear or two by the white hats and governing agency red tape guys.

We have a county road that flooded a couple years ago. They have been hemming and hawing over what to do for 3+ years now. Goes back and forth between DNR and corps and so forth. No one cares just a few farmers.

It?s about the only straight tarred road in my county, links a busy state highway to a busy county road around a large body of water.

Bridge fell down in the Twin Cities a few years ago, they had a new one up in a year.

It's not a lack of skill and talent (or even money) causing such delays. Rather it's the regulators.

In 08 the track a 1/4 mile from me lost several 100 feet of track from the flood. The track is built up 20 feet and created a dam, the water was only of few feet on down current side. Took about a month to get it all repaired.

I remember stories about Hurricane Agnes back in 1972 and how it wiped out miles of track in the Southern Tier here in NY. It killed Penn Central RR which already had tremendous financial stress. Don't see too many pictures of the damage today.
