What kind of plow is this? What tractor would pull it originally? Would a Ford 960 handle it? Or an Oliver 77? Thanks

Those are actually called a disk tiller the Canadians call them discers I would think 50 horsepower would pull it they are only meant to work about 6 or 8 inches deep

That is a disk plow but with 6 bottoms more then either tractor would want to pull. 960 is rated for a 2 bottom 16 and the Oliver I think is rated about the same

we call them tillers. a 77 will pull that like nothing. we used to pull one a lot bigger than that with a w6. a w4 will handle that one easy. pretty sure ours had at least 9 blades on it. I still have it too.

That plow is a JD disk tiller AKA one-way. In my youth I plowed many acres with a similar 8 disk JD plow pulled by a JD 530 tractor(33 drawbar HP). I think either tractor you mentioned should pull it especially if tractors have sufficient rear wheel ballast. Those plows are designed to alter cutting width due to soft or hard soil. If frt disk isn't set a little shallower than rear disk tail wheel will not stay in furrow.

It?s called a tiller, I have one loaned out to a neighbor, mine is three point hitch . Works good for me on the hunting lease cutting up new food plots

Correct name is disk tiller, slang is oneway. And they are not a plow. The disk tiller has all blades on a common axle where a disk plow has each blade mounted individually lke a moldboard plow with the blade at a way different angle than the vlade on a common axle. and as for power your 640 I believe was model number would handle it, the 960 would run away with it. Pulled ours with an AR Deere but the B would have handled it. They do not like to cut through trash tho. At least ours would not cut through oat straw. We got ours to work newly bulldosed wood ground that had previously been cleared for a pipeline right of way that was never mower or sprayed. Very heavy unit, needs at least 300# weight on rear wheel and 150# on furrow wheel. 4 chunks of steel on furrow and 8 on tail wheel and they were all I could lift 40 years ago.

Loren, you think it's worth the asking price? I haven't gone to look at it. I like to get opinions from here!

Kevin, that is totally your call. It would look nice behind your Oliver. Case used nearly the same dark green paint that Oliver did. That plow would have been green and flambeau red.

Correct green color for this JD plow in ad would be Kelly green. I think that plow would bring $350 or more where I live if mechanical lift will operate correctly .
