case 430

Brother in law brought this home from an auction recently. I'm trying to identify the make and model if anyone has an idea? Thanks in advance

Yup, IH-37. I have 3 of them. They were a very good finish disc for their day. The fact that so many of them have survived to today and are still in good shape is testimony to them. 11 blade gangs with 7" spacings makes it a 12'11" cut per the manual. It has the later bearing hangers that will take the one piece ST491 bearings if you have to replace them. Other parts are readily available to build the gangs. Load the weight trays up with concrete blocks to give it enough weight to cut good. Use solid half blocks on edge as needed to get it completely full so the blocks don't shift. If you can find a set of the bolt on furrow fillers to go on the back gang it will cut down on ridging. The back gang has the correct outside hub with the lip to bolt them on. They are still available new from CaseIH but VERY expensive. A news set is probably more than what you paid for the disc. Good luck.

Reminds me of an IH disc I used to pull in the 60s except I was thinking maybe that one had about a three foot fold up extension on the ends of the rear gang. Heavy lifting suckers for a kid. Don't remember the number though.

Thanks for the help guys. I did some Google searching with your info and I believe it is indeed an IH 37. I have a couple of wheel bearings to replace and a few other odds and ends then it should be field ready.

You do NOT need the furrow fillers to control ridging, gust set read gang to proper place and level corectly and no problem with ridging. One was actually my primary tillage disk with the john Deere KBA the finnishing disk. Hope yours has the 7" blade spacing and not the 9" spacing as the 9" is wide enough you need the full 18" blade to do any goor. And they came with either 16", already wore out, 18" or 20" blades.

(quoted from post at 09:07:14 03/19/19) Looks more like our 470 disc.
or sure the IH-37. When I got mine, the original logo on the back had still readable 37 on it.

I'm pretty sure it is a 37. Looking at the case ih parts website, the center frame angle iron is curved on the 37 and straight on the 470.
There are a few scrapers missing. I haven't searched for any yet, but does anyone have an idea of where to start looking?

If you need the scrapers it is too wet you should not be in the field. That is why some claim a disk just packes the soil. They try to work it too wet.
