The Bean is bigger than that ad leads on. 1940?s vintage, rear
engine, Ford power plant.

Waiting for Majorman to post on this one as a lot of these Bean tractors were sold
into Norfolk for drilling and hoeing carrots. Ford 8hp side valve car engine and 3
speed gearbox with reduction gearing. Most rallies I attend here in Eastern England
will have one or two attending and some of them have been nicely restored. MJ

The people who had them in my area was a company called Rowe and Manchet, big vegetable growers. They used them for planting with Bean drills on the tool bar, at least 6 rows. the drill would plant anything from carrots to broad beans depending on the size of holes in the disc. I still use one, a push version single row. The toolbars used to be brought into the garage where I was working for service repairs, I have worked on a few of those Ford engines in my time!
