Tire Pressure For Moving Snow

I just got a new set of tires on my JD 2440 to replace the original tires. What tire pressure should I have in them for moving snow. They are 16.9 x 30 with tubes, I have a 146 loader on the front and a 7 foot box blade on the back.

The manual says between 16 and 18 psi for normal work. They are loaded, cant use chains because of the black top driveway. What pressure do you guys run on snow. Thanks and hurry up spring.

If it where me I would have them around 12PSI for snow. Puts a wider foot print on the ground for better traction

If you want more footprint/contact patch this will tell you how to test.
This is only one way to test.

Pressure means nothing. Working weight of tractor, tire brand and profile on various rim widths and job at hand determines how much air you put in modern tractors. A rule of thumb is to air up the tires on a hard surface to the point that the outer edge of tire tread starts to lift off surface. This is what I recommend to the poster.
If the tractor later gets hooked onto a plow or other 3pt hitch implement that requires draft control for traction, tire pressure has to be much more. On my Case 931, I run 21psi. in furrow wheel and 19psi. in land wheel so the draft control system doesn't just squat the tires and counter acts the goal of the draft control system as draft increases.

On a 50hp compact 4320 JD. Loader and blade on back. Tractor has a cab and 2 sets of wheel weights. 8 to 10 psi in rears. And 30 in fronts.
