That is really an interesting piece. I hope someone saves it. I learned a lot about the cotton picker last year at Red Power. I did not know Allis build a cotton picker. I guess I will have to do some research. I also got a new CASE book the other day and I see CASE built one years ago. I always thought Case got into the cotton pickers when they joined with IH. Wonder who else built cotton pickers?

Used to be several of those at a dealership in NC just South of the VA line. They were built on a D17 chasis,I bought one without the picker parts on it,had a reverser where the PTO lever is normally located and it ran 'backwards' as it had 4 speeds back and forward.Guy bought it to make a loader tractor. That dealer also had a couple AC 72 combines with corn heads and
dual wheels on the right side.

Tractorkrum , I was hoping some of y'all that went to red power round up would see this. We also saw an older JD picker in North Mississippi a couple weeks ago. I didn't know much about the history of pickers until that show.

Hope the guy sees this post. Had a guy on here from California had heard of one here in Tennessee several years ago . He was bad after it. Seems he was an AC collector and the cotton picker was what he needed to finish his collection. Maybe he will see this post. At one time there were several around these parts.

Please check my post on the AC board- been looking for one for years. Been to TN to look for one, also in contact with rick deere and a fellow in west TX. Would be great at MN tractor shows! Would appreciate contact info.

AC built cotton pickers first on a WD tractor, then on the D17, like this one. Travel is reversed just like on making a reversed loader out of them....remove the pumpkin, flip it over and bolt back in place. Gives 4 speeds in reverse, one fwd.

So glad you found this post. I went back thru all my phone records trying to figure out how to get in touch. Hope you get this one rounded up. jm from Tennessee
