Dang Chrysler..........

I've been driving an '07 Chrysler T&C. The thing's been driving me nuts to a point where I carry an OBDII scanner in it.

For one thing, whenever you drive in rain or wet weather it will set a code for the ambient air temp sensor and the temp display will go nuts. Then when it dries out it's back to normal. I carry the scanner in part to erase the code.

Also, the message center will periodically say "Service Tire System" when there are no low tires. The low tire sensors were replaced in all four wheels last summer. The message will go away if you erase the codes, although there doesn't a code come up for that.

Now the ABS light is on, and there are no ABS codes. Haven't figured that out yet.

I have a Dodge Grand Caravan that's an exact carbon copy except for the badge. The Dodge is in my shop waiting to have a bit of cosmetic work done. When I get the Dodge serviced, I'm going to go back to driving it and let the Chrysler drive someone else nuts. For being identical vehicles, you'd think they would drive the same but they don't. The Dodge is a whole lot nicer driving vehicle than the Chrysler. You'd think it would be the other way around, but it's not.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that ABS light?

We have a 2010 Journey. All I can say is I am not buying another dodge/ Chrysler product. It has been riddled with electric gremlins all along and very seldom do the codes help.

The worst is if there is anything hanging from the key fob while driving it may shut down randomly ... not very safe.

I currently have a TPSI, Abs, seatbelt, and check engine... everything is actually fine other than one of the tire sensors is probably not working.

As we speak, I have three car dealerships presenting me with offers / quotes Kia, Subaru and Nissan. I won't likely go domestic again any time soon.

I bought a Chrysler truck in 1987. I had a terrible time keeping it running the whole time I had it. It ended up in shop after shop and nobody could seem to fix it. The last mechanic set fire to the engine working on the carburetor when the problem was a stuck valve. I then decided to give up and junk the truck. I don't think it even had 70,000 miles on it. No more Chrysler for me.

stopped buying american brands 30 years ago. now drive nissan and honda.a big part of the frustration i had was the american dealerships. kept replaceing parts that didnt fix the problem.went back and told them to put the old parts back on give me a refund and fix it right. This was at Don massey cadillac in plymouth mi.when it still wasn t fixed I told Don give my money back. He did and thats when I stopped buying american

Wife had a Nissan murano and the CV transmission went out.Guess it's a know problem and Nissan said it out of warranty so tuff luck. A few lawsuits later they added extended warranties but since we fixed it already we were SOL.

Just picked up a Caravan in November, so far so good, actually very good, town or highway. It replaced the 97 Astrovan that clocked out at 275,000 miles.

A couple of times on two different brands (One a Chrysler) I started unplugging the ABS unit but I don't think I unplugged it all the way and plugged it back in. That moved the pins and got them all making contact again.

In my mind it's worth a try. I am thinking they had a coupling that slide and slowly pulled the coupler apart. There are all different types so you have to look.

My wife is on her 3rd. Town & Country. This one is 2013. We bought it new in November of 2012. It has 190000+ miles on it. She drives 70 miles a day round trip to work and back. On this van we have replaced the tires, wind shield wipers, one tire pressure sensor, and did the regular maintenance. Still on original brakes. She is retiring next month so she will probably get a new vehicle before next winter. I think she is leaning towards the Chrysler Pacifica, since they no longer make the T&C. My daughter and her husband had a T&C and had terrible luck with it. My son and his wife have a T&C and have had good luck with it. I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

Hmmm, guess we've been lucky with Chryslers. Wife likes the 300's and have driven them since 99 with no problems and put well over 100,000 miles on each one. Have an 06 now with 176,xxx that has had an alternator replaced and a battery just last year replaced. We've had excellent service so far but we do keep them maintained as scheduled.

I would add a ground wire from engine to body , it has to be moisture getting in to a connector , its worth a try , make sure and grind all paint down to bare metal

Goose, I have the same exact vehicals. 1 Chrysler,1 Dodge, both 07's. I absolutely detest the Chrysler. Dang door weather stripping is always falling down and I absoulty hate the Chrysler leather seats. The good thing about it, it has 167000 miles on it. I'll run it another 100000 and get rid of it. The Dodge is sitting outside the back door, Grandson lost the dang key. No leather seats on it? It has 256000 on it and drives like it has 56000 on it. Door Weather stripping has not fell down. We took the Chrysler to Western Kansas in Dec. Dang thing averaged 24 mpg on the trip. 3.9 motor. Dodge body is getting bad, but it too averages 23-24 MPG. I DId put plugs in the Dodge atm 200000. No other problems. Good luck with yours.

This is a great suggestion.

Also check the factory ground strap. My wife's Caravan was acting up quite a while ago. I don't remember the exact symptom, but the cure ended up being cleaning and tightening the factory ground strap where it attached to a cylinder head.

Their electronics seem to be sensitive to a poor ground.

Goose, your '07 is the last year of the Gen 4 Chrysler minivans. I've had good luck with my '03 and now it's replacement, an '05. My son has an '07. Go to chryslerminivan.net and go to the Gen 4 forum. Post your questions there, they have been very helpful...

My 07 caravan has had an abs light on for several years. Two shops tried to track it down and neither could. Mine is rusted out and ready for junk but with almost 300000 miles no complaints here. We replaced the computer once with a used one and other than that no problems other than maintenance. Tom

we've had good luck with our Chryslers and have had (still have 1) 2 with over 240,000 miles and others in the 170-210,000 mile ranges.

our 2003 T&C was pretty good. only had a couple issues. 1 mice chewed a wire in the harness under the battery. and the 2nd i had to replace the computer. had 165000 before it was T-boned (55MPH) and totaled

I would guess you have a bad wire harness or a bad or loose connector somewhere. as others have suggested ground too. grounds are easy to look at. make sure the ground strap(s) to the motor are good and have good clean connections to the frame and motor.

otherwise try checking the major connectors to see if they are loose or look like they've been exposed to alot of water.

uying Chrysler is not buying American. Fiat, don't you know !

the abs light came on in my 2011 Chrysler t&c.finally figured that the brake fluid was very low.really had to put a lot of fluid into it to make the light go out. GOOD LUCK!

2013 Ram 1500. 46,000 miles. Got a big red lightening bolt on the dash message said check electronic throttle control. Took it to the dealer they changed the TPIM, charged me 400 and some dollars. Drove it about one hundred miles, same thing.
They then started throwing parts at it
Wireless gas pedal
Battery
Body control module
main computer
transmission control module
engine wiring harness
transmission wiring harness
various and sundry sensors

No charge past the original part.

Have put another 4k on it and not a single hiccup, in fact I gat about 2 more MPG
Never did figure out what was wrong, but they hit the mark with something they threw at it.
Still a dang nice truck, to bad I will never trust it again!
