Battery arcing through hydraulic hose

My friend had a hydraulic leak on a jd loader. Found hydraulic leak and a hose arcing on a bolt. Moved ground to a better location and still arcing. Any ideas? Thanks!

There must be a ground from the engine to the chassis, and a ground from the battery to the engine. both need to be substantial,
but the battery to engine must be 2-O gauge the ground to the chassis can be 4 gauge. Jim

Found his ground from battery to chassis. Rerouted it but still to chassis with it cleaned up. Still arced. May need to run it to engine and chassis it sounds. New cables of ample size. Thanks!

The starting current can be very high amperage. 150 to 250 amps (more in the winter). The charging current can also be in the 35 to 50 amp category. A
connection from the Battery to the engine (at the starter mount bolt) is fundamental. A ground from the engine to the chassis only carries lights and external
accessories. Smaller amps, but very important to link with a woven copper strap or cable. Jim

Thanks for the info. Going to get a longer battery cable and run it to starter mount for ground and see if this stops it.

. Battery chassis return cable "ground" needs to be routed directly from the battery to a starter mounting bolt . On every machine/vehicle .
