Battery caps came off

Something I have not experienced before. Have a relatively new battery, 3 months, and a new alternator.
Was shoving some snow and heard this pop sound and then later another. Checked what that might be and
found the two caps from the battery had popped off. It was not that cold, maybe 18-20 degrees. Any
idea what might cause this?

Sounds like it might have been froze a little bit did you have to Jump it to get it started

If the battery vent is clogged up it will cause that. Could be as simple as smoke ice clogging the vent

Also check your charging system. Could be over charging and generating hydrogen gas. Potential explosion. Max should be 14.4 volts.

Thanks will check that tomorrow.
I did not check the over charging since I had just put on a
new alternator, which has the regulator inside the alternator.

Thats something i have never thought about. After reading that what would be the scenario for it to freeze??.. Other than below freezing temps. Im guessing a battery you have to jump off a lot maybe??
