OT: Lonesome Me

He had a lot of good songs, just like Hank Williams, the only person to out sell Hank, was that darn old Elvis, back in the day !!!

Great song and a great singer, one of my favorites for sure. He's in the Country Music Hall of Fame and wrote and sang the classic hit "I Can't Stop Loving You" ... made most popular by Rae Charles. Here's some info on that song from a web search ....

"I Can't Stop Loving You" is a popular song written and composed by country singer, songwriter, and musician Don Gibson, who first recorded it on December 30, 1957, for RCA Victor Records. It was released in 1958 as the B-side of "Oh, Lonesome Me", becoming a double-sided country hit single. At the time of Gibson's death in 2003, the song had been recorded by more than 700 artists.

Which brings me to a question I often ask myself ..... what the he11 ever happened to music?

You ask a very good question, CH.

A VERY good question.

Keep the faith.

(quoted from post at 05:37:35 03/09/19) Folks, despite being a popular/(post Beatles) R&R fan, I just love this song.

Do you?

Dean
Don Gibson

Yes I do like it.
Funny thing that performance right there was done exactly on the day I was born!

That is a great tune by Don Gibson. First time I heard it was at the intro of the Clint Eastwood movie, "Heartbreak Ridge". I've listened to a lot of different cover versions of the song but so far, Don Gibson does it best.
