94 GMC intermittent start issue - followup

Thanks for all the good advice this morning. After some basic troubleshooting, I found the main issue. Rotor was pretty cancered out, too. She runs like
a new one now. Thanks again everyone!

Here is a news alert. Did you get the same crap cap or did NAPA or a place like that have the BRASS type. Those aluminum type are junk. Raise total havoc on one of the tractors. Even cleaning them up with a pen knife is only a couple of day fix. You should see what happens to the caps where there is a clip type thing on the ends of the wires. WOW do they ever corrode!!

That is bad! If mine fails to start one more time, I am going to replace the entire disturber, the module and the crank sensor are both in it. It has been in the shop since December, nothing was done except rebuilding the starter and now it runs fine.

Good info, will check for brass type. That was OE and lasted 114,xxx miles. If this crappy one goes that long, the grandsons will have to deal with it, if ya know what I?m saying.

Well, I got the most expensive, 35 buck cap at Oreilly?s- nonbrass terminals. Looked on their website just now, two with brass for almost 10 bucks less. Oh well

Did you ever check/replace the cap?

Probably has a bit of moisture and a mess like Jame's cap, and dried out when parked in the shop, so it runs, for now.

Also, the CAM sensor is in your distributor, the CRANK sensor is in the timing cover at the front of the engine.
