Every Sunday morning 4 of our grandkids and one or two of the kids have breakfast at out house. We all have cherished memories of our childhood and the kids and grandkids got on the subject somehow. It is surprising the little things you did with them that they cherish the most. Looks like we did alright by them if this discussion was any indicator. Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.

AND...they will talk about those breakfasts long after you are gone. We do the same thing with Sunday dinner. TV off, phones and tablets in another room. Just us together talking and lots of good food. It is a popular event.

That is to be cherished. Our grandkids are growing up fast, and we have had very little time with them, and it's not for any lack of interest on our part.

My dad always gives himself a hard time for not being a very good dad and being grumpy and mean all the time. I try to tell him about the good memories I have of the fun stuff we did together when he wasn't being grumpy. Sure wish I could see him and my mom more often. It's even less snowy and warmer back in IL!

I have a small cabin in my woods complete with a small wood cook stove. Both of my older boys talk about eating with grampa Homer at the cabin.
