Clutch pedal regroved

So what machine does the machine shop use to recut a clutch pedal? I might do one this summer ! Not a Bridgeport i wouldn't think !!!

Are we talking about boring the pivot hole out for a bushing? If so A boring mill, bridgeport, drill press, drill bit in a lathe, radial arm drill. If not that then if machining new treads on the face an end mill in a bridgeport or a boring mill would also work.

I would remove the pedal, then use triangular hand files. A good file should re-cut the grooves quickly.

If you have a steady hand, a Dremel (rotary) tool with cutting disc would also work.

if you dont have a shapeing mill you can do it with a dremel or small angle grinder with a cutting blade on it, if you lay the pattern you want out on the face of the pedal, usually squares or diamond pattern, then carefully cut the pattern . dont go too deep 1/16 to 1/8th will last decades, now be aware while it works its time consuming, and your arm and other parts will get tied and force you to rest during this process

We got a excellent machine shop 22 miles from my farm, just very curious, how they would do it without hand work, but i think i am going to get to know Manual pretty well if i do it myself, LOL, and a hand file, or a Dremel. It's a diamond pattern, off a M Farmall.

I think the replies here about cover all the solutions. If you use your imagination, I'm sure you'll come up with a fix, after all it is an old tractor right?

Never tried it, but I always thought a piece of expanded sheet metal formed over the pedal face and tack welded on the sides would be perfect.

With all the M"s built there are plenty of nice good used pedals out there they shouldn"t be too hard to find it might be easier than trying time regroove yours.
