Metric grease fittings

I tried Applied Industrial Tech for 1/8-28 thread fittings and they keep insisting that they are 27 t.p.i. ,and I told them no, they're not, they only catch on the first thread and they leak when grease is applied. I could get straight ones through a Koehring parts supplier using part numbers, but there are different angles I want that aren't in the parts book. Anyone know of a source for these things? Thanks, Fritz

1/8-28 would not be Metric.
Any auto parts store should have grease zerks.

I bought a kit on amazon for like $4, has a hundred metric threaded fittings in straight, 90 and 45 degree, I think four different hole sizes.

1/8-28 is indeed Bristih Standard pipe. European pipe is a bit confusing because the vast bulk of it is actually British standard pipe threads but it is commonly referred to out in the field as metric pipe. Adding to that confusion is there is indeed metric pattern pipe thread but it is very uncommon. I have never ran into it personally.

Applied industrial tech or AIT is called As@holes In Turmoil around here. Was so much better when it was bearings inc.

We have a kumatsu excavator. All the grease fitting are metric or maybe even propitiatory to Kumatsu.
All I know is that every place I went the ones they had would do just as you describe.
You might need to go to the OEM.

Bearing houses are usually only as good as the guys helping you. They all get the same stuff... it's just knowing where to find it.

I have a good guy who was with Kaman... the. They transferred to WIC and now he's with AIT.
The Motion Industrues place I will deal with only one guy and he will ship to the closer location.

Good luck with your grease fittings.

My Kioti loader has a metric that I can only get at the dealer. I picked up some at the Kabota dealer but did not use them because the thread may possibly fit, but the wrench size is different. At the dealers, I had to give model and year. They cost about $1 at either place.

I thought everybody told me there was only one metric system when I said that that was not so. And now you tell me that Komatsu uses a different metric system. This is not aimed at any one person but the whole general discussion from a while back.

Technically, everybody was right. There is only one Metric system, but in different parts of the world they tend to favor different diameter threads and different pitches of threads. So they guys who say there is a European metric and an Asian metric are kinda correct too.

America has SAE, Japan has JASO, The European union has EU standards, etc. for certain common parts. Other nations have their own standards as well.

Then there are certain companies that set their own standard for their products.
