Rebuild or replace?( Hyd valve)

Got a call from my FIL tonight. Said he was plowing snow with his tractor and loader. Was going fine til the valve for the loader spit it's guts out. Wanted my thoughts. I told him to just replace it. But looking for a second opinion. It's a after market Prince(?) valve. He says it spit the guts out the plug. Its hard to diagnose problems over the phone, but it sounds like valve has bigger problems. Either way is a prince two channel valve hard to rebuild?

Thanks, Sodbuster

What spilled out? Is a valve with spring center? Get a breakdown picture of the valve Then look at the valve and study the breakdown. Then decide.

Before you (or anybody else) can give an opinion, he has to provide a better explanation than it "spit its guts out". Could be as simple as a lost retaining ring or as bad as a split housing. He probably has
a smart phone- have him send you some pictures.

I'm with SV order a new one, and your done. Even though rebuild kits are available, it may have other internal issues. Sounds like this tractor may need to be back in service soon.

Could be as simple as picking up the parts if they were not lost in the snow and putting it back together.

If the parts were lost a metal detector will come in handy.

All I can think of that may have come off would be an end cap or a relief cartridge.

If the housing is not damaged it would probably be easier and quicker to install what came out versus replacing the whole valve.
