96 Dodge 3500 V10

A marine/rv battery would be ok. Deep cycle batteries don't like to be charged constantly.

If you want more cca, can you stick a passenger side battery tray in it, or is that space already occupied?

I have two group 31 batteries in a 98 dodge diesel 1150 ca and 850 cca have to modify the battery boxes a little to get them to fit but they will . I would Think for a gas engine in your climate the biggest battery that will fit in the box would be fine

Typically, a deep cycle battery will have high reserve amps (long slow draw), and low cold crank amps (sudden high amp demand).

The numbers will be on the battery.

Your owners manual should show the CCA requirements for your truck. If the deep cycle is close, it will work. But if it is below the requirements, it may have problems supplying enough amps for starting, especially in cold weather.

If you already have the deep cycle battery laying around and want to avoid buying a battery, it will probably work OK, but you'd be better off with a conventional battery.
