1010 jd gas rowcropper

hi folks i have my fathers jd 1010 gas 4 cyl but she is back firing I am thinking timing , but here is the catch , it has a Wico dist system and an older mechanic noticed that it only has 2 lobes on shaft when we were setting points . Is it supposed to have 4 lobes or 2 cause it is a Wico model , ? When i was a lad i can only remember 2 when helping dad do points ?

We have replied to this question where it appeared before. That engine must have 4 lobes to operate. If two lobes it will not run correctly. This site (parts above) has rebuilt and new distributors for it. Jim

Ok So I see you have rebuilt dist systems for a delco or prestolite but none for a wico . are they all interchangable ?

They should be a drop in deal. (timing of course) but not a problem. Jim

They are driven by an offset slot in the oilpump gear, so if the oilpump is "timed" correctly the rotor will point to the standard #1 position, so it's just a matter of connecting the sparkplug wires in the correct order, then fine-tuning the timing a bit.

I have a 2010 with the Wico dist. I went ahead with the pertronix ign plate and I'm happy as can be.
