Tractor dual wheels

I have a John deere 7700 that has duals. I
don't run them on it all the time because
iys used for pretty much everything. My
inside tires are wore down pretty bad but
the outside ones are like new. Question I
have will it be ok to take the inside cast
wheel and tire off and just run the steel
dual to wear that tire out. Or will I have
to take the tires off the rims? I'm going
to get new front tires for now and when all
of them are worn out I want to go up in
sizes. Tires that are on there now are 420
80R46 390 90R46 and the fronts are 14.9-30
yes 3 different types of tires. when I get
all new ones I will go to 18.4 in the rear
and 16.9 in the front.
 
You're giving up a lot of weight and traction by removing the cast hub and any weights that may be attached. Also if your inner tires are loaded with fluid, you lose that too. So while your tires may be new, your tractor will have no "a$$" and will just sit on top and spin.

The stamped steel may work okay for light chores but they're not designed to support the weight of the entire tractor in hard pulls.

A professional tire guy can have them swapped over in a couple of hours, for a fraction of the cost of new tires.
 
I don't plan on doing any pulling right now
I will be using it for shredding,spraying
and making hay. It won't be used for heavy
pulling till the fall again. My only
concern was what you said the rims weren't
designed for the weight. And my tire guy
quoted me 200 buck per tire to swap them
out that's kinda why I don't want to do
that.
 
I would find a new tire guy. Ive a friend that can change them in 2 hrs. He leaves the rims alone.
 
They charge 200 to 250$ a tire around here if they have to come to the farm From 50 to 75$ if you take it to the store it would be worth the cost rather than ruining the wheels or breaking a hub I have did what you want to one time on a small tractor I wouldn?t try it on one as big as a 7700
