case 450b steering issue

Hi I went to look at case 455b over the weekend and had a question on the steering/operation. It steered fine when you put one lever in high and one in lo. But when you put one lever in neutral and one in hi or lo it pretty much seemed like it was going straight. I was under the impression that it would turn or is the turn really really gradual??? Also the brakes are not working Thanks Howard

Can't help with the brakes, but yes that is normal. If you were pushing a load, it would turn in the direction of the track that was in neutral. Without a load, it is just going along for the ride. Kind of like your car without posi-traction, one wheel does all the work.
The best thing I liked about the Case, was you could put one side in low, and the other in high, and have power to both tracks while turning.

I had a 1450 Case for years. Best dozer I ever ran. I had a JD and a Cat before that.

that is the way it works when you are pushing and you put one track in neutral that track will be dead and when you go to low it will push after time you will like .as for the breaks more then likely the master cyls. are shot just replace them get the numbers off of them and go to NAPA and get new ones don't go to case or find them on line. good machines one place you said 455b and the other 450b both are good but 455b is newer
