There are many things us older guys used to do,,,

I used to help my friend when it snowed,,he had two skidsteers and a plow truck going to clear condo roads and parking lots.

I ran the new holland skid steer, and I must say I did enjoy it,and it was good to get out and work in winter months.

But,since I got sick a few years ago,,I havent done it.

Now that Im older,,I dont think I miss it as much,,,,lol

What are some of the things you guys and gals dont really miss too much?

We have 5 more weeks of milking cows and one thing I will not miss is 3am robot alarms or any robot alarm in general

I miss the counter girl's eyes following me all the way across the store when I walked in. Maybe she still does, but if she does,it's probably to make sure I don't slip and break a hip instead of because she's starring at my cute back side. LOL

Milking cows, generally. Wish I could miss robot troubles, but I was the robot in those days.

It's a toss up between :

On call (telephone / pager) 24 Hrs / day 8 days straight.....2 says off....duration 15 years:

Or

Attending mandatory Company TEAM meetings...first Wednesday of each month....duration six plus hrs to verify if team is on track for their GOALS and OBJECTIVES:

Retired power Engineer....Natural Gas Pipeline

Haven?t had the chance to miss any of the things that I used to do yet, as I am still doing near all the things I have ever done. This feeding, milking, stable cleaning, hoof trimming, snow blowing, manure spreading. Up every morning, and out the door, started into my 39th year on my own dairy farm this year. And there are starting to be more days that I am starting to think, I?d like to start missing some of this stuff. But I haven?t reached 60 yet, and I just feel I?d be lazy not working.

I was pretty much on call 24/7 unless I was on vacation, and many times I would get out of bed shortly after turning in and not be home until the next afternoon. But it paid very well and allowed me to retire pretty early, so I guess it was worth it! Now if my health will hold out for a few more years!

I used to do a lot of car repair for friends, at no charge except for parts -- shock absorbers, brakes, exhaust systems, plugs, points, even an occasional engine swap. I still have a couple of rebuildable Chevy V8s that I got in return for a swap. But today I'm too old and incompetent to work on cars -- I can hardly work on my own vehicles because they've gotten so complicated. I'm too old to learn new vehicles.

Carrying shingles up a ladder to roof. Carrying plywood up a ladder to roof. Roofing a house in 95 degree heat. Pretty much anything that has to do with a roof. Although I still clean out my own gutters.

I'm on call at work 7 days at a crack, it's in a rotation among the service guys depending on how many are employed. I have seen a few as 3 and as many as 10. I will not miss it.

Picking and handling ear corn. Pushing snow with a cabless tractor. Doing anything with a cabless tractor in cold weather.

I don't miss shearing sheep, delivering newspapers, running to catch the school bus, hitchhiking to school when I missed the bus. I don't miss teaching mathematics. I really don't miss teaching evening and night Junior College classes. Now I'm looking forward to the day that I can say I don't miss barbed wire!

While I was in eng school I used to be a jumper in nuclear power plants. Pay was fantastic. Part time work, short hours. But - it was horrible work. I hated every minute. In my current age, looking back it was a mistake. But I did it, and done now.
