Buda gas engine swap. HELP

I have a 1937 Huber B with a HP205 I am trying to restore, I have ran into problems finding parts from Bearings, valves, springs, lifters etc. Does anyone know if there are other engines that will swap into
its place Maybe the HP217? even a Diesel if the bellhousing/clutch and things will work. I am also looking for either a Buda 205 engine/parts or an engine that will swap into its place.

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

I'm just guessing here from having messed with a couple of Hercules engines in the past.
Many of those industrials had a standard SAE bolt pattern where the bell housing bolted to them. There were a couple/few? sizes.
Some manufacturers I know of that used that SAE pattern were Hercules, Chrysler, Continental and probably more that the guys here could name.
Is your engine a 4 or 6?
Probably a 4 I'd guess. Flathead?
If weren't looking for Correct I'll bet you could find another brand of engine that would at least bolt up on the back end.

I had one but sold it to somebody on this site a few years ago. Maybe they will respond? If I remember right , they are in southern Mn.? Tractor was a basket case but they needed the steering parts. I had rebuilt the engine.

Thats good information I will do some checking on that. I would love to have an original engine but it is proving hard to find and to find parts for.

Yes its a flat head 4.

I spoke to a man with the Huber museum today and he told me that the HP217 was a bolt in for the 205. I also spoke to the gus at olsen gaskets an they said that the 205,217 and 234 shared the same gasket set.

I have a 1940 huber b with the buda engine in it. I'm also the one who bought the parts tractor from Teddy52food. I still have the engine and the reamainder of the good parts I was able to salvage from it. Let me know if I can help.

Where are you located? the only other engine I have found is in CO and I am in Arkansas.

Got any pictures of yours?

Allis-Chalmers bought Buda in 1953,
mainly to get thrir big diesel line..which then
became Allis"s engines in construction equipment,
Earthmovers, etc., Thus Buda engines in Cockshutt
were actually built by Allis-Chalmers, after 1953
It may take more research traceing engine family
lines. For example: Allis-Chalmers built engines
for LeRoi, and LeRoi D201 and D226 4 cylinders
are parts interchangeable with Allis engines.
Can"t get LeRoi parts anymore?..but you can still
get them from NAPA as Allis parts!

I'm located in Minnesota. Never tried
getting the engine to run. Needed the
front steering gear for mine.
