Finally Moved Some Snow

My driveway was getting to the point of heavy going even for 4 wheel drive vehicles so I finally took the 2090 and blade out to make an alternate trail across the field. Since I didn't have the snow blower installed on the 2140 yet and I didn't want to put up a ridge of snow with the blade to catch more snow on the driveway. Plenty of room out in the field. Cold dry snow on hard frozen ground so it was easy going. I think we hit a high of +8F that day which was the warmest day yet this month. Hoping to get the snow blower installed later this week and get the main driveway passable again.
2090 Snow Pushing

Rusty, I plow all my snow to one side of the drive. Snow blows clear of the drive most of the time, although we have a lot built up right now. Fields and ditches are above road levels.

Anyway, when I can keep the snow to that one side, I drive on cleared ground and don't have to worry about drifting.

Can you do something like that with your drive? Pile snow on the opposite side as prevailing winter winds?

My driveway runs East and West so no matter which side I put up a ridge of snow, it will eventually catch drifts. Either from the Northwest or Southeast. The driveway is narrow with shallow ditches. Eventually, even with a big tractor, you run out of room to push the snow. Using the snow blower is the only way to keep it open all winter. Picture here from 2013 is not my actual driveway but an example of how deep the snow can pile up.

You need a higher road. *lol*

Mine is east/west also, but the road is built up higher than the rest of the area....at least until this last snowfall. We're just now starting to get snow on there, but nothing that would stop a car.

I think I see your driveway on satellite view and it looks about a 1/2 mile long. Anywhere near close? Driving in the truck (?) you mentioned 2 wheel drive. Is that a Blazer type truck? I thought that would have 4 wheel drive. Your area has more trees than I would have expected for prairie farm land.

Half a mile is correct. The field trail, being diagonal, will be slightly longer. Yes, its an "S" Blazer with 4 wd. It handled the trail fine in 2 wheel drive though. This area used to be known as the parkland with lots of poplar bushes but a lot has been cleared and burned. If you have seen my videos from the "hundred acre woods", now that is where all the trees survive. After I am gone who knows what will happen to them.

Rusty,

Sometimes we get some snow here in Md . I pushed for several days that year.
