Looks like the unfortunate steam rollers affliction.
Smooth rolls, a wet road, a down hill grade, and
only one drive pin installed. There seem to have
been more than a few rollers had that happen at
one time or another. Fortunately it appears this one
ended with not much more than a broken
headstock. So, no boiler explosion. Sam

You?ve got it. Most of the road rollers and many of the simpler traction engines did not have a differential and you?d remove one drive pin for easier steering. Many of the larger engines had a differential that was lockable. Sam
