I?d like to buy a jump starter, but they give different specs and I?m not sure I'm comparing them correctly. Plus there are 2 types, the larger ones with lead-acid and newer, much smaller type with lithium-ion battery. Is one type better than the others? If it sits in your car in cold weather, how often should you recharge it?
Harbor Freight has one with the lead-acid battery that says 330 CCA, battery capacity 17 Ah, for $50 (minus 20% coupon)
Black & Decker has a 300 ?instant? amp (lead-acid) and 7 Ah capacity, for $50
A Weego 44.1 smaller unit with lithium-polymer battery has 400 Amp of cranking current, battery capacity of 41Wh/12,000 mA, $100
Anker Roav Jump Start Pro, small, startup current 400 A, Capacity 8,000 mAh or 29.6Wh, $100
Putting aside the size (smaller is better), brand, other charging ports, lights, etc, which one is better for starting a dead battery?
Which one would have more power, more capacity?
Is the biggest advantage of the small units just the small size, easier to carry around?
I think 330 CCA is better than 300 amps (both lead acid), right?
Is 330 CCA better than 400 ?startup amps?? Seems hard to compare those different numbers.
For battery capacity, HF?s 17Ah is better than Roav?s 8 aH, better than Weego 12 aH, right?
I?m thinking the larger jump starter with 330 CCA, 17Ah, lead acid battery, for $50 is still the better item.
What do you think?
