Pop-up adds

I don't get pop-up ads. I have uBlock Origin (https://www.ublock.org/)

Have a VERY slow connection with overpriced (cellular) data with limits, so I have no choice but to block out as much unwanted junk as possible.

Another nice bonus is, for a particular website that has videos that automatically load and play, I can block that from happening.

Computers are loaded with ads and pop up junk. Ads are put into legitimate sites that you use and go on. Often they are set up to load an ad before your site comes up thus slowing down your computer use. I thought my computer was at the stage of needing replacement and my SIL said no. He has state of the art computers at work and he says they same thing happens with them , there are so many ads loading into every conceivable use of your computer and they are legitimately there so setting your anti virus , anti pop up doesn't touch them. My e-mail account has so many ads and my page doesn't load until the ad has loaded so you are forced to see it...its all legit by the web page who admitted the ads for remuneration. Sign of the times

Windows 10
using Chrome with it's free extension app adblock
very seldom do I see any
if some page gets to persnickety I can just say ok let that page show them
others I can take a moment and adjust the sensitivity
others I can just not visit

I was suprised to see that youtube for instance even has ads

Not for me, it don't. I'll see an ad (I think) trying to load sometimes, then it simply vanishes.

By the way, I'm using (still) Windows 7 and I only use Firefox.

Not sure what happened to my laptop that uses win 7. It refused to log into
WiFi. SIL thought I had a bad hard drive. Thought I should junk it. As a last
ditch effort I had him wipe the hard drive, which only had a few pics. No big
loss there. He reinstalled hard drive and all is well.

Computer crashed as I was on ebay trying to pay. I think problem may have
been pop up related. Not sure. All is well now. Don't have the pop up that I constantly had. I even got another old laptop
as a backup. It may have win 10. Win 10 runs about the speed of dial up
compared to the old win 7.

My son is head of IT security for a large company that has about 1700 agents,
all computers state wide are networked. He has a dozen people on his team. He
says all it takes is one person to click on the wrong thing and a hacker in.
Keeps his team busy. He gets paid a lot of money keeping companies records
away from hackers.
