local refinery

It's been awhile since they had a big one. I remember back in the early 80's the asphalt plant blew up. It burnt for 3 days. They had to bring in foamers from Scott to put that one out.
Shouldn't effect gas prices. Most of the product made here is jet fuel. They pipe it to St.Louis, Chicago, and Indianapolis.

In 1965 I was hauling asphalt from the Standard / American refinery in Wood River. I had to sign a waiver that they would not be liable if an injury occurred. If I had a helper on the truck, he waited in a tavern at the gate.

They do make jet fuel and they do have direct pipeline to the Chicago and St Louis. BUT, they do indeed make all fuels, not just Jet fuel.

Anything to get the price of fuels up I guess. BP Whiting had an "incident" last week. WS good for a 30
cent gas price increase.

Your comment is very rude and heartless. The man hurt, no matter how minor the press release makes it sound, will never be the same. The company will never recover the money they would have made if this hadn't happened. Multiple government agencies will be scrutinizing this for 2-3 years. I'm sure the company will face fines.
