Any western New York people on here?

I am from just outside of Pittsburgh, but I am up in western New York this weekend to ski and bike. I went for a bike ride yesterday and today and it amazes me how much beautiful farm country there is in western New York. I am in Cattaraugus County, but I also have biked in Chautauqua County before.

I saw a lot of old tractors today along the roads, since I was biking I did not get any pictures, but there John Deeres, lots of IH Farmalls and some new IH tractors as well. Anyways, just wanted to see if maybe some of the tractors I biked by are owned by someone on this forum!

I am in the very east end of WNY by most definitions of WNY. The better definition for me is the Finger Lakes Region. Anyways, a lot of nice country there and a few people
I knew from college as well. I know that a few of them are no longer in agriculture.

You must have froze your but on a bike, unless it was earlier than today !!!
It has been in the teens all day here in the Leather Stocking Region of NY

Hi, John,We are at the furthest south-western corner OF N.Y. Do you down hill(Peak-n-Peak) or cross
country (Wilderness Lodge)? No other nicer pristine country than the rolling hills of Chautauqua Co.
The snow can reveal that old that old work horse in the fence row, that summer sugar maple leaves &
blackberry brambles hide. We love all our seasons, each brings new tractor time. Fence fixing, planting
, haying, harvest, making Cider, moving snow...Repair Eq....moving more snow.Maple syrup and repeat.
Please consider us if your up in these parts again. My wife Jen & I host a farm to table B&B. Farm to
table includes the opportunity to visit the barn to see Allis and met the (next years)Breakfast! Life is
Good and God Bless

South Wales N.Y. A little further north than where your at. About half
hour from kissing bridge ski slopes. Was down that way this morning to
pick up some coal. Your right in my back door so to speak ! Glad you like
the area !

The better half lived on dairy farm in Sherman NY for a time and loved it.
We are much farther east now.

It was definitely a cold bike ride, temperature in the teens. Something very special about all the farm fields and smell of cows as I bike by.

We pass through two or three times a year. Usually I-90 but I like the southern route better for the scenery. Last fall I missed mistakenly got on I-390 from 86 and was amazed at the scenery through that stretch. I particularly like 90 when the grapes are ripening, the aroma.

Allegany County, poorest County in NYS, thank you mr cuomo. People are leaving
faster than fleas off a rabid fox. BUT, it is home and always will be, I really
remember the "good old days". Granddaughters boy friend makes snow at Holiday
Valley. Brother in Law lives at the foot of Cokaine, it's closed now.

Lots of small farms using old equipment trying to make a living, most work town jobs
to pay the freight. Holland Land Grant broke most of it into 90 acre blocks. Our
family farm was originally owned by a Dutchman who invested but never saw it.

Always tell folks we are as far from NYC as you can get in NYS and we are about as
different as people can get too! I am one of the God fearing, gun loving, rednecks
who cuomo says have no place in NYS! Wish he and the city were cut adrift and would
float to France, they would fit right in!

I'm in NY, but a long ways from WNY. I'm about 100 miles north/northeast of Syracuse. Buffalo is a minimum five hour trip from here in good weather.

I really enjoyed reading your post Bill. You sound a lot like me!

I drive on I86 to get to Holiday Valley ski resort, which is where I am staying and skiing this weekend. Maybe I saw your granddaughters boyfriend while I was skiing this weekend.
