Ford 5000 slab weights

Hi all,

I'm looking for a stack of the original equipment slab weights for my 1969 Ford 5000 utility. I recently completed a restoration of this tractor with my dad and uncle. Please take a few minutes to read the story attached. I included a picture of the tractor and of the desired weights. Original part number was C5NN3A370B

I'll step back 50 years to when I was 5 years old and my dad bought a Ford 5000 tractor to help run our 200 acre dairy farm. I distinctly remember the day it was delivered and how proud my dad was of that tractor. Over the years we put many thousands of hours on the tractor raising crops for our dairy herd. As time went on farming became less than a lucrative adventure. It had been good to our family but it was time to move on and dad had an auction, the tractor was sold. I wanted to buy it but I barely had cash in my pocket to put gas in my car in those days. A few years ago my dad was diagnosed with cancer and it?s not a cancer that can be cured, it?s just a matter of time. One day dad and I were sitting around talking and discussing things we wish we had done but hadn?t. I mentioned the tractor and he looked long and hard at me and said, ?let?s go find it?. So, long story short, we started on a journey that ended in locating the old tractor. It was in poor shape and not for sale. I had to buy another Ford 5000 tractor to replace it and pay money to boot but I eventually made a deal with the owner. Over the past year dad and I, with the help of my 84 year old uncle and his grandson, restored the old girl. It?s 50 years old this year and back to what it looked like the day it was delivered that spring morning in 1969. It?s a fun story, it was fun to restore, and full of lasting memories.

Hi Dale

Great story. Sorry I can't help within the weights as I know nothing about those. We have I would say nearly the identical tractor here on our place in Australia, it was built in England. Dad bought it second hand in 1985 it had had the motor done up and has done everything we have asked of it. Had to put in a new water pump recently. While it does not do a lot of hours it still pulls the stack liner picking up hay and harrows to incorporate chemicals and various other jobs. It has been very trouble free. We new its history before purchase and it had not been abused, it has mudguards which go right down and join the foot boards. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your hunt for weights.

Regards

Matt

I have 3, wish I had one more to keep my 5200 anchored with the disc mower and picking up round bales with the 3pt.

I haven?t been motivated enough to go find another one as the three do fairly well for me.

I found ready rod from the farm supply store, or Menards, is just right to anchor them. The shorter length is just right bought 4 and didn?t have to cut at all.

Looks like 18.4-30's, that's what I have on my 65 5000 AP.
My 74 5000 AP has 15.5-38's but needs tires, I'm going to upsize to 16.9-38's on that tractor.

Hi Dale, you have done a very nice job restoring your 5000. I too am on a quest to find a 1966 Ford 3000 that my Dad traded for a 5200 back in 1975. I have placed ads in local farm papers etc to try and find it but so far no one has called me. Im thinking my Ford 3000 has a snow blade/blower on it, is just doing lite landscaping duties by non farming people out in the country side somewhere. The search continues for me!

My 68 had those weights on when I got it and were never taken off. I have NEVER seen a set of them except what I had. Not a popular weight. I had 7:50x16 tires on front and 15.5x38 on rear and would not have wanted biger. I believe 13.6x38 was standard. Mine was a gas model as I did not want anything diesel and still would not. Being around a deisel engine makes be sick. A few had those 30" rear tires but not many. Complete designation for that tractor is 5100 as 5200 is the row crop version. I also had 2 of the 4100 tractors. They used a different weight.
