All of my experience is with Delco Remy. This Autolite charges a little high. I haven't opened it up yet. I don't see any screw on the end for adjusting a third brush. I have assumed it is similar to the DR. Can anyone tell me what to expect/look for in there?

I'm thinking they did have a 3rd brush with a cutout.

Here's a video showing him adjusting it, but a very poor explanation. Looks like you just pry the brush holder to move it?

If it's not a 3 brush, the field will likely be internally grounded, meaning you apply voltage to the field to make it charge, just opposite of a Delco, which the field is grounded to charge.
Autolite Adjustment

Steve nailed it. Autolite have the brushes sliding in a guide with a coiled flat spring for pressure. Not the levers like the Delco. The third brush holder is kept in place by friction. If you adjust it while it's running use wood or plastic to keep from grounding it to the frame.

Yes, this [Case VAC] does have a cut out. It's a Delco! It also has the same low/high charge/light switch AC used. It all works well, but charges a little high. I found that video after I posted, and it does appear he's prying a brush.

I went through the gen on my E4 last summer and I was racking my brain to remember how it was held in. Just hit me. a wishbone-shaped clip holds the ring and is screwed on from the inside.
