I am self employed

and work alone alot. If one of you all should stop by my place to look at a tractor and you come upon me talking to my self. Please to do not interup me. I am most likely having a staff meeting. And hopefully getting some expert advice on the matter at hand.

One advantage of talking to yourself, I find, is you are pretty well guaranteed an intelligent reply - mostly!

Talking to yourself is not a big problem. The issue gets a little concerning when you start answering yourself.

I used to work for a big company where we built complex medical analyzers. One time the management got this great idea that we in the engineering dept should conduct 'troubleshooting ability' (to certify them) tests on the final test technicians (who would pronounce the device working properly for sale). Our job was to rig a "test" device with a set of problems and observe how the tech resolved/repaired them in a logical efficient way. Strangely enough, we found that the techs who talked to themselves usually led themselves to abandon an improbable or improper repair and to talk themselves into the correct path to a good solution.

Now that my son lives across the road and my grandkids can show up at the shop at any time I have had to clean up my language when I talk to myself during trying times working on a project.

Years ago there was a fella in my neighborhood who had very vivid discussions with himself including arm waving and hand gestures. He would walk up to the coffee shop every day while having a personal discussion but he never talked while he was in the coffee shop. When he passed away the coffee shop lost one of it’s more interesting characters.

what always gets me....is that im hard hearing and sometimes I have a hard time hearing people when talking to them but ive never once asked myself what I just said

Sometimes when I get early on my bus route and if I have regular passengers that I joke with I will pull over in a bus stop open the door let on like I?m loading a passenger and have a conversation with an invisible person then shut the door and pull off just to mess with the people

Too funny!

My husband used to drive forklift and had to wear a headset... he'd tell peoplle, "I just drive in circles all day and listen to voices."

I read somewhere that pilots that 'verbalized' (talked to themselves) did the best instrument approaches.
The ones that were silent did not quite as well and the ones who whistled while flying the approach did the poorest job.

I talk to my self when I am debating on a question that I am most qualified to answer. Recently I constructed a run in on one of my pastures. I also had a adjoining closed in part that I use for fencing and some grain storage and also plumbed in a sink. I put power in it few outlets and some exterior lights and some interior lights. Had to bury some conduit and pull wire for a sub panel for my power. About 150? or so. Anyway my wife asked if I needed a permit. I told her I am not sure I will ask. So I walked into the bathroom looked myself straight in the eye and said do you need a permit or permission. Well pondered that for a moment ask about the pros and cons of said job cons won no regulators no raise in my taxes. So I promptly answered my self and I quote ? permit not required?.

You don't have to be self employed to do that. I do it all the time. Course I work alone, mostly for myself, so I guess I too am self employed.....my self is employed doing things around the farm.

I mostly talk to chickens and dogs. I was under the truck changing the oil today and there was a dog and a chicken under there with me giving me advice.

I learned to talk to myself at an early age I picked it up my grandpa he would be talking to himself as he worked on some piece of machinery every once in a while I would go check up on him to make sure didn't needed to help if he did and I didn't respond he was not happy
