Cromer Beach in Norfolk England? We have a whole load of Majors, a Muir Hill, and a TW15 on
the beach for years, used by the crab fishermen. It used to be Field Marshalls. Now the
"incomers" are complaining about "scrap" on the beach and trying to get them moved.

Majorman It?s always the newcomers that move into an area and then want to change flings and with the way our crybaby society those are the people to get their way. I?d rather see a Muir hill than anybody who wouldn?t appreciate one

That Muir Hill is quite a machine! Have never heard of them before....at least that I can remember. Will definitely be adding a couple to the future Pics files.

Is quite a boat that Muir is hauling, also.

After a little reading, it would appear that the Muir Hill tractors are similar to the County tractors, in the sense they all start with a Ford/Fordson machine. Is that correct?? Are County and Muir Hill different companies, or just various products meant for different uses?

Thye Muir Hill was superior to the County in some ways, it had a far better turning
circle. Mind you it was a heck of a climb into the cab. Based on the Ford 5000 originally
with a Ford 2703 E industrial engine. One of our customers had a gear box fail so I was
given the job of splitting it and putting new gears and bearings in it. Had to split it
at the clutch and the rear drop box. Got it all back together and took it out on test
only to find a loud clatter in 4th gear and 8th gear. Could not work out what the problem
was so had to strip it out again. Then found the store man had issued me with the wrong
gears, she had been built just as Ford changed the gearbox in 1968 which had a different
profile on the gear teeth.
If I am honest I liked the County and the Roadless better than the Muir Hill as they were
straight through to the rear axle without the drop box which could give trouble. Muir
Hills are still being built to order.

We as CASE dealers sold Muir Hill tractors also. Most of our local farmers were not big enough to step up to a Case 1470, and Case did not offer a MFD in conventional tractors like Oliver did.
As said The M-H was based on the Ford 5000 which was likely the best ford tractor ever built. The earlier M-H's were powered with Perkins engines, and built lower similar to the Counties. and were painted white and brown. the later yellow and white 121's had a higher operators platform and cab, and had the Ford 6cyl. industrial engine in them.
We had little to no problems with them. We even turbocharged a couple of the Ford powered tractors.

Adirondack Do you know of anywhere a guy could get a crankshaft for a 2715e ford engine in a Muir hill 101
