FEL Hydraulic hoses

Ive noticed this on FEL's on some older tractors, lets say 1980 and earlier. The hydraulic hoses connecting the loader to the tractor- - i often see them looped around a couple times and held together with a bungee cord or hose clamp. As such there are several feet of hose that seem to be useless as far as I know. Is there some reason these hoses are so long? Wondering if they need to be that long in the event you un-attach the loader or some other reason? The connections on the loader and the tractor are fixed in place, while the loader is operational the hoses do not move.
 
You hit it on the nail, so one can back the tractor out of the loader frame before making the disconnect, at least that is one reason for the long hoses.
 
Some loaders require you to used the hydraulics to remove and reattach as you back away from or drive onto, and the length is need to reach when in this process.
 
The hoses need to be long to reach when you unhook/dismount the loader. gives you enough hose to back away. before unhooking hoses.A loader with a 'joystick' usually doesn't need long hoses. Those that hook to the rear remotes need long hoses to reach.However most never unhook a loader.They just farm with it on. Either don't know you can,or are too lazy. Most(kwik tach) are made to hook/unhook in 5 min or less.
 
It's a lot cheaper to buy a standard off-the-shelf ten footer than to have a custom made eight footer.
 
They would rather mess with that extra hose all the time as getting shorter hoses for use and having a pair of extension hoses to put in when you want to put on or take off to use without having to try to do that and keep them from getting cought on everything. All over the counter hoses. The extensions I had anyway for to pull second implement behind tractor.
 
And that hose coiled up you need a 12 footer at least and correct hose would be about a 4 foot off the shelf unit.
