Great minds must be. I keep one in the back of my pick up to get stuff I can't reach without climbing in. Another by the shop door.
Several have asked why there always a hoe in my truck, I tell them they'll find out someday themselves.

I was 8 years old when Grandpa was my age I now know why he had me pick up so many things and thread needles for him.

I keep one of those gripper things by both work benches. They?re about 40 inches long and the gripper on the end swivels. Two for $7.00 at the dollar store.

When I am in the garage, by the work bench, I look around my feet to see what else I need to pick up, while I am down there. When I use the saws all to cut something that is the vise, stuff starts moving off the bench.

I opted a long time ago to get one of those grabbers like trash pickers use. Can now pick up quite a few thing with it. can't seem to pick up change though LOL

I used to have a dog that picked up stuff for me. Shooting an automatic handgun, he would pick the empties out of the grass.

Are you telling me it is age causing this dilemma? I thought I was just getting so tall I couldn't reach the floor anymore but getting back up is the real challenge

Reminds me of seeing a quarter laying on the gravel driveway while talking with my brother. It was about 10 feet away from us, and I pointed it out to him. He walked over to it, and dropped a $10.00 bill down beside it, then bent over and picked them both up. I asked him , why?d you throw that ten spot on the ground before you picked up the quarter? He said that it really isn?t worth picking up a quarter anymore, but he would still bend down to pick up a ten dollar bill, and while he was down there, might as well grab the quarter too. Geezer logic at its best !

Or you try to do the "quick bend and grab" so you can stand back up on the rebound...

Instead miss it 3 times, then drop it again. This time you didn't see where it went, but in all probability it's now under the back of the work bench.

Yes, then you slowly kneel down till your knees hit the floor. Pick it up. Stick it on the bench. Slowly start to push yourself up while groaning and puffing a couple of times during the big project. Elapsed time of about three and a half minutes.
