LED replacement lights on cars

I'm looking for some input from someone who's replaced bulbs on their cars/trucks and has lived with the LEDs for awhile now. The daytime running lights on my 2001 GMC Sierra run so hot they are burning the sockets (well known issue). Those are the only bulbs I'd bother to replace but LED bulbs are expensive and I've heard they don't last long because voltage variations on the vehicle are bad on them. I've also heard many times they are not as bright as the original incandescent bulbs. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with LED replacement bulbs?

You opened a can of worms. I have a whole novel of bulb adventures with my garden tractors and my Ford Expedition. First thing, what bulbs are you replacing. Just go on Ebay and plug in the original number of the old bulb. LED replacements will pop up. There is a guy in California and a lot of his LEDs are made by Samsung. Highly recommend them. Some of the replacements are projector type. They have a lens on the front. Works very well. The LED bulbs just get warm and that is it. On all of my garden tractors I have replaced the old 1156 bulbs with LED focus beam type. SNAP are they bright. On my Expedition I replaced every single bulb with LEDs I could possibly change. The front and rear dome lines are now led panels. The map lites are led bulbs. The two puddle lamps in the side mirrors are now 194 led replacements. The third eye rear brake lite is super bright red led bulbs. The backup 1356 bulbs are now led. Lastly my 4x8 foot tow behind trailer now has RED 1157 led taillights. WOW are they ever bright. If you need more help get back to us. I can most likely steer you in some direction.

Had the same problem on my 06 Yukon XL.
Replaced the DRLs with LEDs maybe 10 years ago. No problem since.

Looked on Ebay the 1156 type that fits older vehicles and loads of lawn /garden
tractors the number is 173212994504. These are the Samsung make. Very bright.

There is one problem with LED for taillights . In snow they will not melt snow off lens and you can't see taillight when covered with snow.
