Green acres tractor

Laying in the hospital over weekend after a hip replacement. Trying to figure out the cable tv setup. got tired of trying to find something decent to watch and stopped on an episode of green acres. Was about half over. Its seems like the preview clip they ran every time had him driving a GP Jd or something very similar. Always thought that was kind of cool cause I Had one just like it. In this one the story line was the county agent was coming out to make a film of his farming practices as to not how to farm. But then there was acouple of shots with him sitting on possibly a Fordson. Anyone know when they traded or did they figure an old tractor is just an old tractor?
Finally found a Star wars marathon to watch. Not a big fan but was easier than continually searching. Think I watched almost 4 Full episdodes. Between naps, nurses poking at me meals therapy etc.

Hope the hip recovery went well Doug, you'll be up and around in no time at all, and do those exercises they prescribe. I've heard that some guys just spend a night or two in the hospital these days for hips. Knees are not so forgiving apparently. The Green Acres question has surfaced here before and I can't remember what the replies agreed on .... if they did agree.

They called the tractor a Hoyt Clagwell in the show. However, in the beginning it was actually a GP John Deere. At some point they changed to a Fordson being used for the rest of the series.

There were two tractor that I remember. One was a john Deere D or GP and the second was a Fordson model?.

As far as I remember, the GP was only in the opening credits and was never in the show. He always had the Fordson disguised as a Hoyt Clagwell.

It does seem like they had a new tractor brought by to see if they wanted to buy it in one of the later episodes. Maybe I am confusing this with something the Ziffels had. I did not watch the entire series.

The only tractor I remember is the GP. Good luck with the hip. By the time spring rolls around you'll be dancing again.

Yup. She had it delivered to the Ziffel's with a big birthday card, but it was Fred's birthday too,so he thought it was for him. He gave such a sob story that they let him keep it. In another episode he shared a birthday with Arnold. Remember the birthday card? Happy birthday oh pig-O-mine.

Looks like 3 other tractors in the credits during the flyover of the neighboring farm. About the time the credits flash for Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor. One might be a Farmall 300 or 400.

Many internet "Green Acres" fan sites claim that Ford Motor Company was a show sponsor, note the Various Ford tractors, and I believe three different Lincoln cars over the years.

The "IMDB" doesn't list Ford as a major sponsor, though.

"The major sponsors were General Foods (now Kraft Foods), makers of Maxwell House Coffee and Post Cereals. "

In the closing credits it says "Automobiles courtesy of Ford Motor Company" or some such thing. I don't know that it meant they were a sponsor, they just had their name in the credits. Probably a way of advertising without having to pay for it. In the real early shows Hank Kimball drove a Scout I believe it was,but in the vast majority of the shows,he drove a Bronco.

Good Luck with the hip. I was in the hospital twice last fall, 4 days and then 6 days. So I can identify with your situation. Paul

I remember one episode where Eb cranked and cranked on that old Fordson and it wouldn't start. Turned out the 'doohickey' was bad. Or maybe it was the 'thingamajig'. :)

This was my 2nd hip replacement . 1st one just a year ago. Both knees done in 2010 and 14. My mother had all of them replaced too and she said the hip was so much easier than the knees. I didn't find that to be the case Was out running the haybine 8 days after knee surgery both times. Last year at my 6wk checkup I was fussy and whiney cause I felt it should be healing faster. When the Doc left he said "you know at 6 wks most guys are happy to be walking around the house, not complaining that it hurts when you use the chain saw". Made a god story to tell. I'll try to behave myself this time.

Thats no Fordson. Its a Hoyt-Claigfield. Or something like that. It says so right on the front. Right where it would normally says Fordson.

Lisa bought it for Oliver as a surprise, some how it got delivered to Ziffels, he thought it was a gift and neither Lisa or Oliver had the heart to tell him any different, yes not realistic but funny and old Fred offered that Oliver could use it any time he wants.
