Ford pto clutch pack assembly life expectancy

I need to know how long to expect the pto clutch pack in Ford 8000 series tractor to last under normal mowing. Say mowing 100 acres three times a year.

Do any of you have any experiences with this. Should the clutch pack have to be replaced after about 2500 hours?

I know this is difficult to give an accurate estimate. I just want user experiences and opinions.

I don't have an 8000, but.... that seems
like a very short life, to me. The pto
clutches in my 4600 (10,000+ hours), 7600
(8800+ hours) and 7000 (14,000+ hours)
have never been replaced. Even if you're
talking about the main clutch, that seems
low. My 4600 and 7600 have both had one
clutch replacement, while the 7000 has
had two.

Wet clutch discs, when everything is working properly wear very very slowly. 10,000 hours is a reasonable life. HOWEVER, they can fail almost instantly if you loose pressure. My 9000 came from my cousin's farm. The PTO clutch pack had burned out twice when under full load while pulling a corn chopper. It happened due to a drop in hydraulic pressure when shifting the Dual Power. The best thing that you can do is to hook a gauge onto an SCV and check your pressure during shift and PTO engage-disengage against manual spec.
