Case 580K diodes

I have a 580K that won?t shut off sometimes. If you unplug the stop solenoid it will shut off so I?m sure it?s not the solenoid. I am sure that what?s wrong with it is the diodes in the wiring harness to keep the alternator from back feeding the ignition switch. I bought new ones to replace them but I can?t find them. Can anyone tell me where they are?

I have never seen a diode intermittently fail, would think it is more likely the solenoid is sticking and the movement from removing the connector is letting it close. I would put a test light on it next time and see if it is really energized.

My local Case dealer, a very small one, had them in stock. I have to believe that some are failing but I sure will try the test light as you are recommending. The problem is that it comes and goes. It has been working for a couple of weeks. When it starts doing it again it will almost never shut off. I do have a new solenoid for it, but I never put it on because it turned off when I pulled the wire. Thank You for your help!

The only Diode I know of is down on the shuttle clutch cut out harness by the shuttle.

I would look at the run relay and make sure it's not sticking.

Is the alternator a Delco or Motorola? Not sure what year your machine is but if it is a Delco next time it gives a problem unplug the smaller wires off the alternator if you can access them. If it dies you can bet it is likely feed back and you can continue your diode search. If it is a Motorola the smaller wires may attach to small stud terminals this will be a little more difficult to complete this test on.
