You are the man, I never know. Sounded awful high to me for Olivers in this part of the country. But if I had not posted it , would have turned out to be some kind of one of a kind rare, worth a fortune.. LOL I always remember growing up , riding with my grandady and we saw a man plowing with n oliver and he said "farming with an oliver was one step from the poor house ". They were not held in high esteem around these parts.
 
Up here in dairy country,they were always known as the Cadillac of tractors. The guys who had the 88s were king of the hill for sure.
 
That is the way for Case around me. Never had Oliver but they would have been either second or third behind the 2 cylinder Deeres, New generation Deere Oliver would have been first. They would have been tied with IHC for second place untill most of the didget series IHC then would have jumped way up.
 
l wish I could find a 55 or 550 under $2,500 in running condition here in south-central Minnesota. I have several 8N Fords and a Farmall Cub but would love a small Oliver. I've casually looked for one for years without any luck. I don't need one, I just want one. (I grew up around a 70 and 77 and 88 and 770 -- I can find them, but too big for my taste.)
 
I gave $1000 for my 1957 "Improved" Super gas. It was in pieces and needed an overhaul,but was in half way decent shape otherwise. The previous owner had torn it down because it was getting water in the oil. He thought it was the head,so he bought another one that was all reconditioned,but the problem of course,was the O-rings on the sleeves.
 
I have 2 nice 550s for sale but I am in ky however I am buying some light equipment to bring this way and would be glad to pay you it is in Madison mn let me know oops both of the 550s are well under 2k
