found tonight robbers struck, prolly sunday 21st during the moon eclipse. Heard a truck stop & slowly move on but weekend traffic was heavy. Drove to the barn tonight & found 300 lb. generator, tool box (mostly emptied) & full 5 gal gas can sitting outside by New Holland. Battery cables unscrewed but still in place on the NH with 2 brand new big batteries. They'ed walked 1/4 mile thru horse pasture, went thru the trucks & walked away with 5 gal gas can, B & D 18v. tool box, hundred hand tools. Left my toolbox with a few wrenches & walked back out cutting thru woven wire fence at the county road. Somebody dropped'em off & picked'em up. Barn sits on a knoll 200 yds. off the co. road & house. And they're planning on driving up to get the big stuff but the eclipse snuffed out the big light source & they couldn't see the entrance road. Nobody ever goes up there but me, yet they walked in the long way & took their time going thru everything. Sheriff has an idea who did it; they just got out of jail 2 weeks ago & robbed my next door neighbor 6 yrs. ago. Aggravating! Any honest job they got would've been far easier.

Ya I feel it should be OK to protect property with deadly force but the law doesn't agree with me. If we could shoot the sob without going to jail bet the theft rate would drop drastically.

That's one reason I keep more dogs than anyone needs. One of them is always awake and they raise the roof if anything unusual moves. Thieves hate a barking dog.

Dogs are good and these motion activated solar powered flood lights work good too.I taped several of the solar lights that go beside sidewalks up on tree limbs they give a look like someone
is up in the field across from my house.

A colored TV is not worth taking a human life over....uh it depends on who's life and who's TV. My TV your life -I'm going to have to disagree with you.

I had my pile of used batteries stolen a few weeks back. Probably 10 or 12 of them. They sat behind my garage, impossible to be seen from the road. I found footprints and tracks from some sort of a cart going through my yard out to the road. They may have pulled in the driveway for some of them, as I doubt they could have gotten all of them on a cart and I found tire tracks that I didn't recognize. It had to have been someone that has been in my drive before and knew they were there. There is other stuff laying back there of some value, but all they took was the batteries. Easy to sell, I suppose.

I'm thankful that's all that wound up missing, but it still really irritates me.

Sorry about your stuff walking off. Hopefully its insured..

Get a motion activated stealth game camera. They won't know they are being photographed. Usually locals that know the area. I would bet you know who the thieves are once you get the photos. If you don't know them, law enforcement will probably recognize them.

Sorry to hear about that, it is very aggravating and unsettling to say the least, maybe they will get the guys.
I heard a story once of a guy whose brother was a thief,he and his pal had liked to hit the rural areas. They would case the property for up to a week or more and sometimes even drive in to see if anyone would notice, if questioned they would say they were lost and move on. One guy would drop the other off in the middle of the night and he would sneak in and take stuff , then get picked up and go. The thing that has always stuck with me about the story is the 2 things he said that would cause him to automatically dismiss a place as a possible target: Dogs and too many lights.

My friend Tony Mass-- yesterday was blowing snow off his driveway and a cable broke on his snow blower near street. He went to get his tractor to use FEL and take to his shop. Tractor battery was low so he put charger on and ate sandwich while charging. Started tractor and someone had stole the snow blower. Cops said not much they could do.

Iget things stolen weekly around all of my propertys. if its not people four wheelin with trucks its coon hunters cutin your fence. one of my dogs caught in a trap along the creek, grandaughtor and her boy friend walked the creek and found 12 traps in a 1/2 mile section and I don't trap. two weeks ago sunday morn about 9 am 4 or 5 men and 2 pick-ups back in one of my woods cutting firewood said it was to wet to get to there place so its ok to cut in my woods?? p.s. don't tell me to call the law it does no good, that is why I carry guns with me
