I have a motor rod big end bearing with 12, 1/4 inch roller bearings, around the crank pin, and I have .002 rod slop up and down, What size roller will take up the .002? I can get rollers .001, or .002 O/S. You guessed It, it's a motorcycle. I am restoring a 1947 Harley 125 Hummer. It's snowing out there, you can't be working on your tractor. Be nice. Stan

.001 will take up all the slack, but it probably needs .0005 to survive. You may need to polish the journal. Jim

That's what I was thinking, if you put in the .001's, you will have zero clearance and it would probably seize up when it warms up. But if you take some emery cloth and then crocus cloth to the crank pin, it will probably work. How much clearance is recommended? I would think it would run fine with the .002 clearance, that's why old motorcycles use such heavy oil!

most insert bearings run 1 1/2 to 002 thousands I would think .002 would be close enough on a low rpm motor , you should be able to look up the min and max clearance on line

Hummer lower end rollers come in the following ; standard --.001" --.0002" .0004" and .0006 ". Mic the crank pin and the rods. Shoot for .0015 clearance { factory trained H-D mechanic].
