sediment bulb gas leak

Does anyone have a sure fire way to stop the sediment bulb on my Moline 445 from leaking? I took it off to clean it and ever since it has leaked. I found a new gasket from Napa that looks the same but it still leaks.
Thanks, Ted

Never worked on a Moline on others 99.9% of the time the screen needs to be trimmed its interfering with the gasket sealing again the housing... Right simple you just got to think about it...

lots of times the sealing surface gets warped from overtightening, don't matter what tractor. once warped it will always leak. there is cork gaskets and rubber gaskets and I have good luck with both.

The gasket stuff I like is just plane cork. Original late production Gravely gaskets are green. Some kind of material with a rubber in it. Don't even bother with it. Ethanol eats it alive for dinner. Go buy yourself some cork gasket material and cut you own. I do and none have leaked. Trace the edge of the bowl and then take a washer to make the inner circle. Exacto knife or a drafting compass. Twirl it half a dozen times. Gas will dry out cork. When you put your new gasket in take the bowl and twist it back and forth just a little as you tighten the bail. Helps settle the parts together.

I had this problem on my Farmall 460. Wouldn?t quit leaking between the bowl and housing. I tried a new neoprene gasket that didn?t work. Two cork gaskets fixed it!

(quoted from post at 22:07:44 01/21/19) I use #2 Permatex on the gasket. Let it set for a while before turning on the gas.
I used a O ring last time as I had one that fit and didnt want to drive to town. So far so good. I only use non ethanol gas but that may have been on a diesel. I can't keep track any more.

Some of these new sediment bowls are made in the land of the cheap. They leak at the bowl gasket and the packing nut.

Cork is going to last way longer than rubber. Even non-ethenol gas will harden rubber, just as cork will harden but it takes a lot longer.
