Louisville Show

I'm going to the Louisville show in February for the first time in over 25 years.

Probably going on Thursday.

Anything I need to know?

The parking is usually very crowded-if there's a chance of rain, the grass parking areas can get muddy. You can leave your coat in your vehicle-it's nice and warm inside. You can barely see everything in one day, especially if you browse a lot. It's A LOT of walking-my legs will let me know! But if you like machinery it is worth it. I usually go every year. Mark.

Wife and I went last year. Lots of nice equipment and toys. The only complaint we had was how rude the people were. Which was really surprising to me. Most of the farm related folks I have been around are typically the nicest people you will ever meet.

The tractor pull was fun to watch and a good show.

Stoneman44: Google National Farm Machinery Show Louisville, Ky.
Largest farm machinery show in the eastern US.
We'll be going Friday, have tickets for that nights tractor pulls.
If you stop to look or talk to many venders you won't be able to see everything in one day.
Used to be if you went on Thursdays the crowd wasn't as bad but now it's crowded everyday, Saturday is still the worst.
We don't go every year but have the last couple, when I'm interested in a piece of equipment I go to the show to look at all brands and talk to the reps.
Going to the show in 14 influenced me to buy a new Kuhn mower instead of another brand I was leaning towards, haven't regretted it.
One can get some pretty good deals if you can make arrangement to move it at the end of the show that way they don't have to.
Picked up a couple of quick attach bale spears there for $150 less each than the dealer was asking.

Hey Dean, I lived in Louisville for 43 years. You will go down 71 probably and hit Watterson X-way. Get off the Watterson at Preston Highway ( 61 ) and go North about 3 or 4 blocks and turn left at the MacDonalds. Go about 1/2 mile to the entrance to the fairgrounds. This will eliminate sitting in line on the expressway waiting to get into the fairgrounds. Have fun, Ellis

Thanks Destroked!

That is pretty common at the end of "trade" shows. As long as they break even
and don't need to take it home you can get some pretty good prices. Trouble is
there are greedy dealers who just will not budge. Tell them to take a hike.

Worked it for or with two different companies for over 20 years. Cakes a lot to get all that put together. Just the carpet rent for the KUBOTA area would feed a family for a year. For years it seemed to get more expensive ever year as a vendor. The sheer work involved in getting ever thing in place is unbelievable. Have not worked it in 4 years but plan on going Thursday. Some of the short lines offer the stuff there at a bargain at the end of the show rather than having to move it again but the Majors like , Cat, John Deer, Land Pride, Kubota ect that stuff goes back to the nearest dealer that is willing to sign for it. Nat a lot of discounts to the dealer but you do save inbound freight.

Society seems to be going to he11 these days! Very rude and uncouth. They don't give a dan! Ed Will

Wear good shoes and TAKE A BACKPACK! Took me forever to figure out the backpack part but it is so much better than carrying around those cheap plastic bags all day and always having one tied to a bag. Then you sit it down for a minute and walk off without it

I am 55 miles straight north of Louisville. I bet it's been 15 year since I have been there.

Thinking about going to this show, but not sure if I want to go alone. Farmers I know around me are going to the World Ag Expo in Tulare, Ca. It runs the same week.

you can avoid Tolls on I-65 by taking the old U S 31 Clark Memorial bridge .easier still, and a lot less traffic woes... take the bypass loops ... I-265 west to I-64 east across the double arch Sherman Minton double deck bridge, once across into Ky , you can merge onto I-264 bypass loop and follow that to the airport Expo -Fairgrounds exits ... WATCH Close for the Expo- Fairgrounds exit, very tricky , but no big deal if you end up at the airport ,. simply pass on through and follow signs to Expo- Fairgrounds... btw,.. just learned today. Louisville International Airport is going to be RE-named AGAIN!,, for a dead big mouthed draft dodging"dancer"boxer who swapped over to a middle eastern faith instead of fighting for Uncle Sam . We All liked it just fine when it was known as Standiford Field. but that was too countryfied for the citiot libbs that have destroyed common sense in good ol Luiyville, Ky

Those tolls are automatic on the I-65 bridges , You can go across the bridges "stupid and unmolested "and .. THEN ,after the fact YOU WILL GET a Bill to PAY in the Mail, failure to pay will catch up with YOU at YOUR Local License branch.it is at least 2 bux a trip ,. i always avoid the toll bridges because i am South West of the I-64 Sherman Minton bridge and it makes perfect sense for Us in our area to use the free Sherman Minton bridge.

And while driving into Louisville (especially on the Watterson/I-264), please keep your speed reasonably close to the posted limit. Local police are using numerous unmarked vehicles to gather quite the harvest of fines. As far as I know, they don't do warnings.

Where are you located?
I'm also south west of the Sherman Minton by about 50 miles, cross at Brandenburg and go to Corydon, then I64 to Louisville.

Craig I am interested in you comment, are you saying the folks there to view the stuff were rude or are we talking about the vendors, like the folks on the John Deer,Kubota, Cat exhibits. I know for a fact KUBOTA is very picky about who they let work the floor. Crowds have got so large that there is a lot of rude folks as far as walking around but I have not noticed vendors being rude, too much at stake. I know for a fact I have spent 30 minutes answering questions to some one who would never buy a new tractor but that is just what I was there to do. When a vendor spend 20% of the annual advertising budget on one show they dang sure want it done right.
