can this idea work

I have a MH 30k that I got a few months back, got it running but having issues with the governor but that"s besides the point right now.
I had the tractor parked in the grass, decided to move close to the garage on the cement to work on it, within 2 weeks both tires blew out loud booms and everything, right side took out the rim with it ( I guess I should have left it on the grass) these are the 9 bolt stamped wheels.
Now to the point I picked up a set of duals with good tires is it possible to cut the stamped part of the wheels that bolt to the tractor off the wheels and weld these onto the duals there both 36 inches? I just don"t have the money right now to get a new set of wheels for it,
I want to get it running and moving it around and buy new tires and rims when I get it restored so do you think this would be a really bad decision or could this work

Yes it will work, but you have to remove the tires. Welding on the rims with the tires on will cause an explosion, you can Google that to see the damage.

I was just wondering if both tires may have been over inflated? Around 12-15psi would be about the correct psi.Mark.

If you are just wanting to change the bolt patteren you could just cut that part out and weld without removing the tire. Just cool the wheel as you cut. A garden hose trickling on the center away from the cutting would hold the heat away from the rim where the tire is at. A plasma cutter would be so quick it wouldn't get hot. Welding would be the bigger issue again the hose trick would work for it.

When the tire gets to a certain high temperature, a chemical reaction starts to take place within the tire, that will end with an explosion. So, should you weld the rim with a tire on it? Totally your call. I might as long as I kept the weld far enough away from the rubber. I also have an infrared thermometer and so I would be able to keep a close eye on the tire temp.

Why not put the duals on to move it!! Have done that before and then just take them and the main wheel and tire off when it is where you want it.

Yes you can but I would take the tires off or you will melt the tube inside be a good idea anyway then you don?t have to worry about getting anything hot enough for it to explode . I cut the centers out of a narrow 9 bolt set of duals and i am getting ready to weld them into a wider set of rims for another tractor
