I am going to replace the plugs in my 05 F150. I will probably go with the stock Motorcraft plugs. Are the platinum really that much better? Stan

Does the 05 have the two piece plugs? Is it a 5.4? I did mine and broke a few plugs it was no fun but not an impossible task. Make sure to have the removal tool on hand. The best I can say is to crack the plugs loose and put some sea foam down the hole and let it set overnight, next rock the plug back and forth till it's free from the carbon. Good luck.

I know you are itching to replace those plugs, but have you tried moving the coil packs and see if problem goes with it?

I like the double platinum. Twice the life of regular plugs. Bad thing is people abuse them by running them too long. The more miles you go the wider the gap gets. Sure it still runs good until it kills the coil. Then they change a couple coils and wait for the next one to fail. Finally get around to changing the plugs after wasting hundreds on coils. Brilliant! Manufacturers tell you 100,000 miles. Pull them at 80,000 and check the gap. You'll see it's too wide even then.

Please follow this advice. Get the plug loose, turn it out maybe 3/4 turn, and soak down with Sea foam or another penetrating oil and wait overnight to remove. Plenty of head shave been ruined by damaged plug threads on stubborn spark plugs.

I am not a fan of platinum, but some cars benefit.
