bfulmer wondered about these 2 items he bought recently. 1. Tongs of some kind? 2. A rubber suspended seat? Randy thought maybe Ford?

the tongs have had the bolt removed and flipped
the short points added for personal use
originally ice hooks

Those tongs look like they have a permanent rivet that does not look like its been tampered with.

I could see where if you cut a block in the ice and bored a hole in the center you could use those to pull the block cleanly out of the hole. Maybe for spearing thru the ice where you want more than just a bore hole? Totally guessing. Seems like there would be easier ways to get it done. :D

Ya,they definitely look like ice tongs to me too,but like John said, they're riveted together. You'd play hob getting them spread far enough for those short tines to get around much of anything with them put together the way they are. Those short tines are riveted, but they're welded too. They have the same little notch in them that the long tines have.

We pondered bidirectional gear puller. LOL

Looking at the tongs in the top pic. Looks like you can take the bottom handle and spin it clockwise 270 degrees and you got your ice tongs. Got no idea what the add on tabs are for.

Were those built by Bostrom? I know the ones with those rubber torsion springs like that on the Olivers were.

I think it was called a JoyRider. I had one on a Ford 850.The company name may have been the one you mentioned. The same company may have built ones for Oliver and David Brown. They were on some new Fords and may have been on a new Ford, but was an oprion like a Monroe was a factory option for Farmall

I'll bet lifting any part of a railroad tie with those little tongs would make a man out of ya. And ruin your back.

Railroad tie tongs have handles that stick out to each side when they are on the tie, so that a man can be on each side of it. Can you picture a man trying to carry anything when he is directly above it?

"What model of ford did that seat fit"

Others have mentioned what they came on, but it will fit almost
any of them from the 9N through the x000s.
They were labeled as Dearborn Rest-O-Ride for Ford.
Case used the same seat on some models.

I forgot to mention, if you don't need that seat and want to sell it,
I might be interested in it. They are very expensive to rebuild, but
I like them when they work right. I just finished rebuilding two of
them and I'm nearly done with a third one.
